About XP
To provide opportunity....To push the boundaries....To explore

Living truthfully in imaginary circumstances...
TheatreXP was birthed with one mandate: to provide the opportunity for those in the theater community to spread their wings, to push the boundaries of what they thought themselves capable of doing and to explore new -- and sometimes radically new -- approaches to the staging of story.
There are no limits as to how this can be done...a new approach to lighting, a redesign of the traditional stage/audience architecture, site specific performance, set design, language and delivery, subject matter and story...all are open to re-interpretation, experimentation, extraordinary approach. TheatreXP was founded in early 2010 in Key West, Florida by actor/writer/director R. T. (Bob) Bowersox. In the rich theatrical environment that is Key West, with two established professional theaters already producing full seasons of a more mainstream variety of theater, Bob felt there was an opportunity for a theatrical entity to produce a more, as he calls it, “extraordinary stage experience”. His vision for such productions runs the gamut from knife-edge drama to absurdist comedy to stage adaptations of stories which had their first incarnations in another medium, such as film. Additionally, TheatreXP has always been committed to producing original works for the stage.

R. T. Bowersox
Founder/President/Producing Artistic Director
TheatreXPPhiladelphia, Inc.
Bob Bowersox has spent his entire professional career in the arts. He's found success in multiple disciplines, having written and been published across all genre lines, from music, poetry, and fiction to journalism, playwriting, and screenwriting. He's performed extensively on the stage and the small and large silver screens.
Bob's first stage play, Going Again, won the Distinguished Playwright Award from the Wilmington Drama League in 1991. He’s penned a dozen more since and had five plays produced professionally on Equity stages, one internationally. He's directed dozens of plays, and has acted in countless others. He’s also appeared in 22 films, from major studio juggernauts to quirky independents. He’s authored eight screenplays, several of which have been award recipients in several prestigious competitions, including the Nicholl Fellowships and the Austin Film Festival. Three of his scripts have been optioned by Hollywood, with one set for release in November through Lionsgate, starring Morgan Freeman, Cole Hauser, and Peter Stormare. His first novel was released in early 2020, with a second now in galleys. Besides the Playwriting Award, Bob has won the Rosenberry Writing Award from the University of Delaware, and he recently won the Decimos Writing Award for one of his short stories.
Bob founded TheatreXP in 2010 during a decade-long stay working in theater in the Florida Keys. He saw an opportunity to produce more cutting-edge theater than other companies in the region were doing, and he wanted to be able to produce his own works regularly. TheatreXP found instant success with their productions, and became one of the more admired companies in the Keys. But the call of home brought Bob and his actor/writer wife, Melody Moore, back to Philadelphia, where he's re-established TheatreXP, looking to become a productive member of the theatrical community here.
Bob holds a Professional Programs MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA, Certificates in Screenwriting and Playwriting from Gotham Writer’s in New York, and a BA in Journalism from the University of Delaware. He lives and writes in Philadelphia.

"We're old enough to have no illusions, and still young enough not to be afraid of the hard work necessary. You come at us with that same attitude, and there's nothing we cannot do together."

Melody G. Moore
Vice-President/Producer/Director
TheatreXPPhiladelphia, Inc.
Melody Moore first stepped onto a stage at the age of 12 playing a young student of Moriarty, the arch-enemy of Sherlock Holmes, in a stage adaptation of a Conan-Doyle story. The exciting mystery of the play mixed with the magic of the theater, and the heady combination has driven her forward ever since. A fortuitous move to Key West, FL in her 20’s put her on stage in Tennessee Williams’ Night of the Iguana with Kelly McGillis, directed by her mother, Joan, and that powerful performance cemented her reputation as an actress. She has since worked with every top theater company in the Florida Keys, handling any and all roles – from supporting to lead, from Lanford Wilson and Dale Wasserman to Samuel D. Hunter, Shakespeare, and her husband, R. T. Bowersox– with the professionalism and drive she’s known for. With her husband, she founded TheatreXP, which the two built into one of the leading companies in the Keys, producing, directing, and acting in plays that ranged from the comic to the deadly serious, as well as creating several successful theatrical events. Melody’s business sense and talent for dealing with the public also served her well when she took over as Box Office Manager of the prestigious Red Barn Theatre, handling everything from programming the ticketing interface to dealing directly with the patrons. Since relocating to Philadelphia in 2020, Melody has worked with the PlayPenn organization on their new play festival, and Stage Managed for Fever Dream Repertory. She and her husband currently reside in Philadelphia.
TheatreXP is committed to being a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace, where all employees and volunteers – whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education or disability – feel valued and respected. We respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages, and will strive to ensure that all voices are heard. We reject any form of bigotry, discrimination, or hatred, and we seek to cultivate an environment in which our differences are explored with generosity and openness. Our commitment to this endeavor may often be imperfect, but will be ongoing and with the intention of correcting and learning from missteps when they cause social or cultural harm. It will often require examining our own imperfections and opening channels when it is time for us to listen. We believe this approach will deliver a richer, more complex, more rewarding, more truthful experience for those we work with and those we entertain.
